Progress

Progress, of the best kind, is comparatively slow. Great results cannot be achieved at once; and we must be satisfied to advance in life as we walk, step by step. ~ Samuel Smiles

I’m so happy that I’ve made so much progress this week. Yesterday I figured out how to get the new email function working. Today I finished loading up the photo galleries … Yippie! And, I’m just thrilled that you can now click any of the blog photos to see them individually on a black background. What do you think of this feature?

I love lots of white space on websites that I visit, it calms me down a bit, but I also like how a black background really helps me focus in on photos. Okay, enough computer talk, time to turn it off.

Thanks for your patience and encouragement as I find my way on this new website.

Catkins :: Kitten Tails

A kitten is chiefly remarkable for rushing about like mad at nothing whatever, and generally stopping before it gets there. ~ Agnes Repplier

These little catkins sprang up just outside my door, I bet I walked by them many times last spring without seeing them. This year I spotted the little fuzzy buds when they first began to bloom, I had fun tracking their growth day by day. It’s amazing how we see what we’re ready to see, when were ready to see it.

I shared a bit more about finding nature’s tiny treasures in a guest post I wrote for Vision & Verb. I’m grateful my friend Marcie was kind enough to ask me to guest post, it’s my first time :)

Anything new for you?

Reflection

Everywhere water is a thing of beauty, gleaming in the dewdrops; singing in the summer rain; shining in the ice-gems till the leaves all seem to turn to living jewels; spreading a golden veil over the setting sun; or a white gauze around the midnight moon. ~ John Ballantine Gough

I hope you find some time to rest & reflect this weekend.

Welcome

Beginnings are always messy. ~ John Galsworthy

Welcome to my new website. Thanks for stopping in. I feel similar to how I felt when moving from a small rental space into a big new home that I’m in the thick of remodeling. I love to design new spaces and this website is my latest creation.  It’s been fun, yet extemely difficult learning how to make this new ‘home’. I much more comfortable getting my hands dirty tearing down walls and designing kitchens. It’s so much easier than understanding how to write code to get my damn plug-in to work. ( I hope most of you have no idea what a plug-in is! )

Like all remodels, even though the process can be a nightmare, I think the results are worth it. I’m grateful for all the help I’ve had in this process, especially from my friend Lisa and my computer guy Tharyn. I will continue to work with them to get everything up and running here, until then, I apologize for the ‘coming soon’ links. If you have some time, I’d love it if you explore a bit and let me know what you think?

Have a Beauty ✻ Filled Day.

Frog & Fly

Up high, the flies are playing,

And frolicking, and swaying.

The frog thinks: Dance! I know

You’ll end up here below.

~ Wilhelm Busch

All the critters are coming out to play. When the frogs come out, the sound of 100’s of them croaking at the same time can drown out all other sounds … it amazes me how loud they are. When I get to the edge of the water to find the frogs they tend to jump in and disappear, this guy was more curious than afraid.

I have been spending way too much time outside the last couple of weeks. The weather has been incredible, a dose of summer at the beginning of spring. At some point I’ll catch up with my photo sorting and share the bounty, but it’s just too nice out to be inside, today it may get up to 86° whoo hooo!

P.S. I know many of you can not comment. Thanks for trying, I’m not sure what the problem is?  I have an appointment today with my computer guy. If he can’t fix the issue, I’ll be transferring over to my new website in hopes of solving the problem. My site is still a work in progress, but if it solves this issue it will be worth it.

Mother MOMA

The industrial age is ending, and a new one is beginning. It produces art instead of stuff and it rewards gracefulness.

…the future belongs to the breathtaking.~ Seth Godin

Yesterday I felt like I was entering Mother Natures Modern Museum. There were literally thousands of spider webs floating in my fog filled yard. It was such a beautiful installation that appeared overnight thanks to the fog and dew. These magical conditions revealed hundreds and hundreds of intricate sculptures draped on branches, wrapped around weeds, and tucked into trees. It was heavenly.

This section of the back yard had web shapes that reminded me of modern artists like Frank Gehry, his buildings mesmerize. The intricate detailed construction also reminded me of dutch artist Theo Jansen, have you seen his kinetic sculptures?

Now I need to decide if I spend time sorting another collection or do I go outside in the beautiful weather. It’s such a fun time of year to hike with my dog & my camera, he’s busy sniffing out the new critters, while I’m busy finding so many tiny treasures dancing in the sunlight asking to have their photo taken.

Trifecta

Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls. ~ Mother Teresa

Dewy Spider

I had the most amazing morning, a photographer’s trifecta … fog + dew + webs! I spent over 3 hours wandering in the fog taking shots at every turn. I burned through two fresh camera batteries and loved getting hot and sweaty from the workout. I was squatting, bending, even climbing to capture webs and so much more. I had no desire to come back inside until the fog burned off and it lasted sooooo long – YEAH!

This straight out of the camera photo is one of my favorites. I love the way the two largest drops of dew become the eyes of a new kind of spider :) I have so many more to sort and not just from today, yesterday was unseasonable warm and so many little critters were out and about. I am so excited to organize some new posts. I’ll be back soon, until then … happy early spring. I hope its warm and wonderful where ever you are today.

Do it for Half-an-Hour a Day

Alice laughed. “There’s not use trying,” she said: “one can’t believe impossible things.””I daresay you haven’t had much practice,” said the Queen. “When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”  ~ Lewis Carrol

Wow, what a week. It’s been a wacky, wild, weird week? I’m not sure if it’s the energy of the full moon along with the solar flares but something is helping me to believe some things I thought were impossible … perhaps it’s the friends & family who believe in me when I forget how to believe in myself?

Grateful to all of you <3

How was your week?
